Background:
Mr. Salas, a graduate of Georgia Public Safety Training Center, began his law enforcement career working as a Detention Officer for the Roswell Police Department in Roswell, Georgia. He then attended the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy and went to work for the Southern Polytechnic State University Police Department in Marietta, Georgia. Benjamin worked his way up through the ranks of this small department from patrol officer, to sergeant, and finally to lieutenant. A graduate of the Deklab County S.W.A.T. School, Benjamin currently maintains his sworn police officer status by acting as the training officer for the Powder Springs Police Department in Georgia.
In addition to his domestic law enforcement experience, Benjamin has provided services internationally, both in the classroom and in the field. These services have included the facilitation of forward based sustainment training and the mentoring of specialized units during real world deployments. Benjamin has worked in support counter narco-terrorism missions in a number of countries including the Domican Republic, Colombia, and Afghanistan (including seven deployments on the ground).
Training:
Benjamin is a P.O.S.T. (Peace Officers Standards and Training Council) certified Detention Officer, Police Officer, General Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor and Firearms Instructor. His official Georgia P.O.S.T. record indicates no investigations into misconduct and recognizes over 1,800 hours of in-service training including High Risk Warrant Service, Tactical Handgun, Patrol Rifle, Advanced Firearms, Close Quarter Tactics, S.W.A.T., Small Unit Tactics, Response to Active Shooter, Edged Weapon Defense, CQB Specialist, High Level Resistance Control Tactics, Armed Urban Confrontations, Personal Protection Specialist, various enhanced and specialized Defensive Tactics courses, Advanced Urban Tactics, and Officer Survival. Experience:
Benjamin Salas has provided assistance and support to agencies all over the world. He has worked with domestic agencies in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. In addition, Benjamin has conducted authorized training for law enforcement agencies from Afghanistan, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Germany, Guatemala, Mexico, Pakistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.
Although Mr. Salas primarily provides training to military and law enforcement personnel, he does teach open registration courses at selected facilities to qualified clients. As a Gunsite Academy Instructor (2005-2008) he instructed courses for the U.S. Marshals, the U.S. Army, and others in Close Quarter Tactics and Edged Weapon Operations. Currently, Benjamin is on staff at T.E.E.S. (Tactical Explosive Entry School), an internationally recognized training facility in Curitiba, Brazil.
